What happened to Henry on GREY's anatomy?
When he later has a heart tumor, Cristina unknowingly operates on him (because Grey's just loves its drama). While the heart surgeon does her best, Henry dies in surgery, ratcheting up the tension between Cristina, Owen, and Teddy even more.
Sadly, too much damage had already been done and Henry couldn't be saved. In season eight, he died in the middle of surgery, leaving Teddy devastated at the loss of her husband.
Ultimately, the closely guarded Teddy opened herself up and fell in love with Scott Foley's lovable but uninsured patient Henry, whom she married so he could seek treatment for a rare genetic condition using her insurance.
A tearful Teddy tells Cristina that she needs her to say it. “Henry is dead,” she replies, with tears in her eyes. Teddy thanks her and leaves, at which point Cristina breaks down again. Teddy later visits Henry's OR to see her husband for a final moment with him.
Grey's Anatomy's Teddy Altman never blamed Cristina for Henry's death, but wanted her to say that he died, as Cristina could not bring herself to say it.
In the final episode of Private Practice, Jake and Addison get married and are beginning the rest of their lives with Henry.

He refused to let Hayes leave his sons orphans. At least Teddy had already got out of the car to ensure Leo and Allison would have one parent. Before Hayes got out, Owen told him that he'd helped a terminally ill soldier die.

Does Teddy leave after Henry dies?
After Henry's death, Teddy departed from the show in season 8 after being offered another position in Germany, and she defended her decision to leave with the fact that she would be escaping the place where her husband died. She was brought back, however, in the show's 14th season, when Owen went to Germany to see her.
A major story-line that has been in place since the fourth season, is Addison trying to have a baby with IVF treatments, but after the IVF treatments fail and she no longer has any eggs left, she decides to adopt a baby, eventually adopting a baby named Henry, who she delivered the very same day she was called about ...
However, after trying IVF and coming to know she had no eggs left, she decided to adopt a baby in order to fulfill her dream. In Season 5 of Private Practice, she adopted a baby boy: Henry.
